As you’ve heard us say time and time again, there’s always a lot going on at KM. This time, we want to highlight some of the goings-on with our Government communications sector. GovLutions is a platform that offers the unique ability to both meet and anticipate your citizens’ needs, which is no small task.
This is where GovLutions comes in. GovLutions is an incredibly flexible solution that allows the end user to keep residents better informed, measure and improve performance, reduce administrative time and costs, easily segment audience as well as create and send targeted messages, alerts and event invitations. But how is this done?
GovLutions is a platform made up of numerous tools—email marketing, Digital Editions and Page Knowtice—just to name a few. Everyone is familiar with email marketing, so let’s find out more about Digital Editions.
From Park and Recreation guides to publications and city planning manuals, Digital Editions allow you to expand the reach and effectiveness of your print publications. By providing a mix of a PDF and links, Digital Editions delivers a fully engaging online experience. In short, Digital Editions allows for the replication of printed materials, weekly circulars, catalogs, flyers and brochures from a PDF to a web version all in one click.
The City of Mesa, Arizona is the perfect example of putting a Digital Edition to good use. In order to better share upcoming city projects, including plans, maps and pictures, The City of Mesa decided that Digital Editions was the perfect solution. So far, the City of Mesa has had 689 unique views, a total of 4,519 views and an average time of 2.5 minutes is spent looking at the City’s plans. Another tool that allows for digital communication with the masses is called Page Knowtice. Page Knowtice is a new service we’re offering that allows people to receive a notification when certain pages of a website are updated. In order to receive said notification, the user must subscribe to receive the updates on those certain pages and topics.
For example, you’re waiting for the swimming lessons schedule to be updated with your park district, you can sign up to receive a notification when the swimming lessons page is updated, which saves the hassle of having to check back as well as the trouble of possibly forgetting.
On the back end, Page Knowtice allows the administrator to select the pages that need to be monitored. Then Page Knowtice automatically monitors those pages, and alerts the administrator when a change or update has occurred. From the update screen, the administrator then has the option of sending an email out to the subscribers notifying them that a change has been made. Page Knowtice is a simple way to keep people updated and coming back to your website.

As mobile devices become increasingly sophisticated in terms of how they display email content—most now support CSS—email marketers no longer have to be constrained with developing mobile email messages. For example, less than two years ago, Blackberry users couldn’t not access HTML formatted content or messages.
