As you’ve heard us say time and time again, there’s always a lot going on at KM. This time, we want to highlight some of the goings-on with our Government communications sector. GovLutions is a platform that offers the unique ability to both meet and anticipate your citizens’ needs, which is no small task.

This is where GovLutions comes in. GovLutions is an incredibly flexible solution that allows the end user to keep residents better informed, measure and improve performance, reduce administrative time and costs, easily segment audience as well as create and send targeted messages, alerts and event invitations. But how is this done?

GovLutions is a platform made up of numerous tools—email marketing, Digital Editions and Page Knowtice—just to name a few. Everyone is familiar with email marketing, so let’s find out more about Digital Editions.

From Park and Recreation guides to publications and city planning manuals, Digital Editions allow you to expand the reach and effectiveness of your print publications. By providing a mix of a PDF and links, Digital Editions delivers a fully engaging online experience. In short, Digital Editions allows for the replication of printed materials, weekly circulars, catalogs, flyers and brochures from a PDF to a web version all in one click.

The City of Mesa, Arizona is the perfect example of putting a Digital Edition to good use. In order to better share upcoming city projects, including plans, maps and pictures, The City of Mesa decided that Digital Editions was the perfect solution. So far, the City of Mesa has had 689 unique views, a total of 4,519 views and an average time of 2.5 minutes is spent looking at the City’s plans. View the City of Mesa Arizona’s Digital Edition here.

Another tool that allows for digital communication with the masses is called Page Knowtice. Page Knowtice is a new service we’re offering that allows people to receive a notification when certain pages of a website are updated. In order to receive said notification, the user must subscribe to receive the updates on those certain pages and topics.

For example, you’re waiting for the swimming lessons schedule to be updated with your park district, you can sign up to receive a notification when the swimming lessons page is updated, which saves the hassle of having to check back as well as the trouble of possibly forgetting.

On the back end, Page Knowtice allows the administrator to select the pages that need to be monitored. Then Page Knowtice automatically monitors those pages, and alerts the administrator when a change or update has occurred. From the update screen, the administrator then has the option of sending an email out to the subscribers notifying them that a change has been made. Page Knowtice is a simple way to keep people updated and coming back to your website.

At KM, we’re always talking about coming up with new ways to continue marketing products and services—even when the budget to do so just isn’t there. Anyone who has done any email marketing knows the importance of your email list. Your list of email address for your customers and prospects is invaluable.
However, the problem with those lists is that they’re ever shrinking—clients move on, prospects find different jobs and sometimes people are just doing research. For those reasons, it’s extremely important to continue growing that list. Read on for some interesting—and free—ways to grow your email list.

1. Let’s start with Facebook—it’s the largest social media site, by far. While your company or organization might have thousands of Facebook fans, have you successfully been able to send email to those contacts? The solution is simple: add a signup form to your Facebook page that specifically collects your fans’ email addresses. A feature this simple is available right in our Enterprise Communication Network.

2. Provide value—time and time again, we preach that providing good content to your subscribers is what people want. Whether it’s discussing some frequently asked questions, or an article based on current trends, providing valuable content is of the utmost importance. While this point may not actually help to grow your list, making your subscribers happy by providing excellent value will help to reduce your average amount of unsubscribes.

3. Make the most of associations—many times, business or professional associations will either email something out on your behalf, or they’ll provide you with a list of members. If you can obtain a list of association members, you can engage them through email marketing efforts.

4. Make sharing simple—this point is also key to growing your email list. Include a “forward to a friend” option in all outgoing emails, which will allow people to pass on the valuable information you’re providing. This is an easy way to allow for sharing, which will result in additional subscribers. Also, we recommend that you include links to your social media pages—Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. These are more places you can engage people and hope to collect their information for future mailings.

5. Keep track of your rate of unsubscribes—this is something that many of us forget to do, but it’s so important to keep an eye out for downward trends. Many email marketing platforms, like our Enterprise Communication Network, provide reporting that generates these numbers and percentages for you. Make sure to check your statistics after each email campaign to see if people are unsubscribing for certain reasons. Are you mailing too often? Not enough? Are your emails too sales-centric? These are all factors to take into consideration each time before you hit that send button.

Please feel free to contact us to find out more about how we can help with your marketing needs—email marketing, lead generation—KM can do it all.

At KM, we’re always working toward the goal of making things easier for our clients. Recently, our team of hard working techs rolled out some great updates to our marketing platform. We thought we’d take a few minutes to point them out so that our clients know exactly what is new and how it can help them.

File Library Clean-up
You no longer have to remember to clean up the file library in your account. ECN will automatically delete any files in the file library that were uploaded 14 days or more.

Bounce Score Redesign
When an email address hard bounces in ECN three* consecutive times [*default #], on the fourth attempt the email address is automatically sent to the Master Suppression Group. Now, the bounce score will be reset back to zero [0] upon any open/close activity.

Suppression Tabs
All of your available suppression options will be located in one area, separated by an easy-to-use tab format in the Groups section.

Domain Suppression
You now have the option of suppressing specific domains from blasts that you send.

Master Suppression Subscribe Type Code Added
Any profile that has been added to the Master Suppression Group will be tagged with an ‘M’ as its Subscribe Type Code in any group it is located in. This designation will be added on a nightly basis and will not be in real time. Also, the system will not upload any profiles already listed in the Master Suppression or Channel Master Suppression Groups. Counts will be noted on the results of the list upload.

Duplicating UDFs
This new feature will allow copying of specific UDFs that you can designate by checking a box next to the UDF, and copy those selected UDFs into another group. This feature will come in handy if you have several groups that utilize many of the same UDFs.

Adding Transactional UDFs to Groups
Each time data is uploaded to a UDF, the data in the UDF is overwritten. With transactional UDFs, data will be appended as a new record rather than overwritten. This is a great feature for any type of transaction such as order history, rental history, etc.

Your suggestions to making ECN an even more robust system are being heard. If you’d like more information, please feel free to contact your Account Manager. Keep those suggestions coming!
